Brentford are reportedly in talks with Luton Town over the transfer of prolific striker Andre Gray, who would be moving from Conference football to the Championship.

Luton gaffer John Still admitted to  Beds on Sunday that “talks are ongoing” between the two clubs but it’s fairly likely that the Hatters will want significantly more than the £30k that they paid Hinckley United for the marksman two years ago.

Gray scored 30 goals in the Conference last term and, aged 23, appears to fit the recent Brentford blueprint for signing players with the capacity to improve.

The Bees have had success with non league signings before – the likes of DJ Campbell, Martin Rowlands, Sam Sodje and Leon Legge have all excelled in the red and white stripes – although other gambles such as Moses Ademola and Chris Moore have struggled to make the step up in class.

Matthew Benham has also indicated that Brentford are in the the market for a winger with Kadeem Harris and Moses Odubajo among those rumoured to be on our target list.
