Sam Saunders back for Preston
Bees fans have finally today been handed the boost that we’ve all been craving – a comeback date for Sam Saunders. According to getwestlondon.co.uk, Saunders could well be in line to return for the crunch double header at home to Preston (whom he helped obliterate at Deepdale in December) and away to MK Dons. During the festive fixtures, Saunders became arguably our foremost talisman, having a huge say in launching us towards the lofty position we now find ourselves in.
Colossal contributions from the likes of Jonathan Douglas and the exponentially rising star George Saville have ensured that the Bees midfield have coped admirably in his absence, with Saunders having to take on the role of chief pundit/commentator/cheerleader in these past few months. No doubt he’ll be utterly relieved to be back in the fold at just the right time. His manager must surely also be delighted to be able to ease him back in to an already strong squad. It seems all the best men rise again at Easter…
Warburton nominated for Manager of the Month
Meanwhile, the Gaffer has again been nominated for the League One Manager of the Month award after a gritty March which saw his side pick up 14 points from an available 21 …. 3 of which being the crucial win at Orient. Warburton has already picked up the gong once this term in December.
If there were an award solely based on exemplary media management, surely Warbo would’ve swept the board after his perfect response to the penalty/no penalty incident at Bramall Lane on Tuesday. Speaking to club’s official website, he asked the referee to exercise more caution: “The obvious thing to do is to go and speak to your colleagues and then make a decision”.
He did however seem to concede that justice had been done in the end: “My first impression…was that it was a good tackle”. How fortunate we are to have someone so measured at the helm. Someone who will speak his mind but not let his emotions cloud his judgment to the point where he resembles a raving lunatic. You can feel Forest and Orient fans glaring with jealousy from here!
2014/15 league fixtures announced in June
Finally, the club have confirmed that the Football League intend to release the 2014/15 fixture list on Wednesday June 18th. Something tells me that this time round Bees fans may pay slightly more attention to said announcement than normal this time round. Can’t think why though…
