Bees to head across the pond
Brentford will be taking their players to a state of the art training complex in Florida over the summer in order to prepare for life in the Championship.
Getwestlondon has learned that Sporting Director Frank McParland has already approved the trip, the club confirming the plans after promotion was sealed last friday.
The trip – beginning on July 2 and running for 10 days – is thought to be mainly to boost squad fitness, with the Bees having no matches scheduled. Their friendly fixtures will start at Boreham Wood on July 18.
Super Kev, David Button full of praise for Bees
Club captain Kevin O’Connor has praised former Manager Uwe Rosler for laying the foundations of what became an historic promotion campaign.
London24 reported Kev’s ecstatic reflections on promotion, the defender paying tribute to the changes the German made: “Uwe came in and changed the mentality. It was all Premier League standard”.
Meanwhile, Goalkeeper David Button has spoken to Getwestlondon of his delight at finally finding a club he can call his home after an hitherto frustrating career.
A former Tottenham youngster, Button was sent out on loan to 11 different clubs before failing to make the grade at Charlton, but is relieved to know that he will be an established Championship keeper next season: “I’ve felt at home this year and it’s fantastic to top it off with promotion.
Full house for League 1 swansong
The Bees’ last game of the season sees them entertain Stevenage, with both saying goodbye to League 1 for vastly differing reasons.
The club have today announced that the game is completely sold out, as the away fans will look to party away their relegation blues, with Bees fans able to relax and enjoy what is sure to be a carnival atmosphere.
With the new Lionel Road project due for completion in time for the 2016/17 season, this will hopefully be the last time Griffin Park hosts a 3rd tier match. What better way to draw a line under this phenomenal season and herald in a successful future…
