Brentford look to sign Trotta

It’s been quite  a fortnight for Marcello Trotta. It began with Brentford’s momentous promotion on ‘Great Friday’ and will end with a final day bash at Griffin Park via a starring role for the Italy U-21s, in which he scored twice.

It is not surprising in the week of Trotta’s heroic international brace that Manager Mark Warburton is seeking to tie the Fulham youngster down to a permanent deal after a two-season loan stint.

With the possibility that his parent club may well be in the same league as the Bees next season, Warburton is clearly eager to swoop before his star rises too high. But struggling Fulham may well take some convincing. When Beesotted asked Trotta on Preston Promotion day if we could save him from Fulham (see video clip), he swerved the question quite magnificently. .

Warburton is also keen to make permanent the loans of Blackburn winger Alan Judge and Chelsea midfielder George Saville, both of whom also played key roles in the promotion campaign. Speaking to WestLondonSport, he said he would speak to the trio’s respective clubs “at the right time when it’s good for them”.

Warburton keeps faith in current squad

Despite the current transfer talk whirring around the club, the gaffer has insisted that the squad that got Brentford promoted will be, by and large, the one that seeks to establish itself in English football’s 2nd tier.

According to getwestlondon, there may be a handful of arrivals as reported above, but Warburton maintained that “we have a strong squad…the boys here will get the chance”.

Players to be presented with trophy after Stevenage game

Another unforgettable Griffin Park party awaits this weekend after the club announced that the players and management will be presented with medals and a trophy for their promotion from League One.

The game looks to be a sell out, with the club having arranged for an extended home capacity to allow for the most celebratory atmosphere possible. As the Griffin Park story nears an end, Saturday May 3rd 2014 will surely provide memories to transcend generation after generation.
