Brentford’s prize for progressing to the Second Round of the FA Cup sees the possibility of a repeat of last season’s First Round clash… away at Boreham Wood, or, heaven forbid, a pres-Christmas Cumbrian schlep up to Carlisle United.
Their replay will take place Tuesday week following the 0-0 draw at Meadow Park between two sides 74 places apart in the football pyramid – a match that the Wood manager, Ian Allinson, described as already being his side’s cup final. Apparently his main concern ahead of the Brunton Park replay is, “ Trying to get two days off work for the players!”
Brentford and Boreham Wood last played one another in a pre-season friendly this July, with Clayton Donaldson and Stuart Dallas (2) scoring the Bees’ goals in a 3-1 win after ex-Bee, Callum Willock, had given Wood the lead.
