Brentford can look back at a growing list of famous wins since we arrived in the Championship, but few will eclipse those against our local rivals… And Saturday’s 3-0 demolition of Fulham at Griffin Park will live long in the memories, with Sam Saunders and Scott Hogan producing three first half goals which stunned the Cottagers into submission.

Dean Smith was forced into making several changes, with youngster Tom Field deputising well for Jake Bidwell and hot-shot Hogan starting ahead of Lasse Vibe, but any thoughts of a weakened side struggling were blown away as quickly as the Fulham team – two up in ten minutes, then three up before the break – the Bees had won the clash inside 45 minutes.

All three goals were crackers, Sam Saundsers’ classy lob arguably the pick of them, but Hogan’s impressive brace, further underline what an exciting striker he will be for us next year.

Fulham hit the woodwork twice, and had decent spells of possession, but it was a poor display over all and the away fans were singing ‘your not for to wear the shirt’ as their team left the field at the break, and had left in their droves well before the final whistle.

As you will hear in the Pride of West London post match podcast, and see in the Beesotted video from the terraces and pubs, there were some rightfully proud Bees supping celebratory pints on Saturday… Next season is already shaping up to be a cracker.

The curtain comes down on the Bees’ season next Saturday with one last long schlepp north to Huddersfield, but there is absolutely no reason why we can’t go there and end on another high… but let’s savour this win over Fulham between now and then, eh!
