The fixtures for the 2013/14 season were released on Wednesday morning, with the Bees facing an away trip to newly-promoted Port Vale on the opening day, Saturday 3 August. Brentford’s first home game of the new campaign will see the visit of Sheffield United, a game sure to create a cracking atmosphere.

Martin Allen’s Gillingham will host the third of a tough opening sequence for Uwe’s team, before the Bees see back-to-back home games against Walsall and Carlisle United to close-out August’s fixtures.

The Bees visit Molineux, home of Wolverhampton Wanderers, on 23 November 23, with the home fixture against Wolves scheduled for Saturday 22 March.

Christmas and New Year matches are, for some reason, always highlighted, so not to break with tradition – Brentford host Swindon Town on Boxing Day and MK Dons on 29 December, before seeing the New Year in with a trip to London Road, Peterborough.

With the focus on achieving promotion this season after going so close last time round, one eye has already been cast to the 2013/14 run-in… the final game of the season is a home fixture with bogey side Stevenage, with a fairly local trip to Colchester United coming a week earlier on Saturday 26 April.

The full fixture list will be posted here later.
