Chuba Akpom has finally signed for Brentford from Arsenal, initially on a months loan.

The deal was put in doubt by to injuries to Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendner but Arsenal decided that the loan was finally OK to go ahead yesterday as reported exclusively by Jason Murtagh of Get West London.

Akpom, 18, is highly rated by Arsene Wenger. He’s a powerful forward who also is skilful with the ball and nippy on his feet. He loves to take defenders on apparently which is what we like to hear.

He scored a hat trick in Arsenal’s recent youth cup demolishing of Peterborough (6-1) which raised a few eyebrows around the leagues.

The victory caused Darren Ferguson and local hack Alan Swann to cry in their soup. They both felt Posh were unlucky to lose and would happily play Arsenal every week.

You can see the goals in the video above.

Akpom went straight into training today and is expected to be in the squad for the match against Port Vale on Saturday – a game which season ticket holders can buy additional tickets for £5 in advance.

With Arsenal having a free Saturday, why don’t you Arsenal fans come down to Griffin Park this weekend to see what all the fuss is about and cheer your boy on? You can pay (not very much relatively) on the day and we still have terraces. You’ll love it.
