Beesotted contributor of olde, Luis Adriano, looks back at yesterday’s epic win in East London and issues a Sunday morning sermon urging the Bees flock to “Beeeeeeelieve brothers and sisters, Beeeeelieve!”
It was sung with such passion but still, some people won’t allow themselves to, “believe it, the Bees are going up”. I tell you now, we are going up, I said, we ARE going up. I now urge Bees fans everywhere to enjoy that fact.
Listen to Warburton’s post Orient match @Beesplayer interview then listen to Slade’s. Even just watch them with the sound down. There is a winner there and there is a (bitter) loser there. Spot which is which, I assure you it’s not difficult.
Slade picks out Donaldson’s gentle nudge to the face and how other refs may have dealt with it? Er Mr. Slade, do you really want to analyse that referee’s performance? Your team were beaten by a better team. Deal with it. You should unfold your arms, say you’ve had a bad day and move on.
From watching Slade’s interview I have every confidence in him being unable to lift his troops. He knows they fucked up on the big day. When his squad next meet up he’ll probably spout something like “do you want to let those bar room brawlers go up instead of you?” He may have already said this in their dressing room on Saturday afternoon.
I can see him maybe with a token bang on the walls hoping to instil a bit of passion then spending more time on the training ground to see if throw-ins can be hurled any longer. His players will realise though that, deep down, he knows they’re not good enough to come higher than us. With Wolves there, he probably knows what lottery his team will now be entered into come May.
Brentford meanwhile, just like Paula Abdul, are going Straight Up. The positive support from the Temporary Bread Army Stand at the Matchroom Non-Olympic Stadium should be replicated from every seat in Braemar and New Roads and every concrete standing space on Ealing Road from here on end. We are going up, believe it, enjoy it.
ENJOY how good this squad is. No, ENJOY how good this club is. The best squad I can ever remember. The best management and depth of backroom knowledge I can ever remember. The best owner, OF ANY TEAM, ever (Jack Walker running him a close second possibly!).
ENJOY this ride in. There may be the odd bump, but we will soon pull away from the play-off bunch. In any walk of life, just because you’ve been shat on, or things have been bad over and over again, that doesn’t mean it will always happen. Play offs suck, but do you know what, we’ll win them one day (not this time as we won’t be involved). On the flip side, if you do still want to look at records and think they’ll continue, then remember Brentford are unbeaten in all Championship Play-Off campaigns. This may be handy to cling onto in fourteen months time.
Yep, last season was THE cruellest end to a season for anybody that I can remember (being a Liverpool fan seeing Michael Thomas score for Arsenal may run it close). Pah, forget about all that. Marcello Trotta now scores goals for Italy’s Under 21 team. He now puts his shift in. He now gets goals when he takes penalties (notice how I’ve phrased that pedants!). He will be remembered for being part of the Brentford team which got us promoted to Tier 2 with a team and structure capable of staying there.
We should be celebrating now how good we are. I believe the players and management know how good they are. Their class as people prevent them from shouting about it unfortunately. I go back to Warburton versus Slade. Don’t underestimate the importance of our man’s intelligence. He has brought in other intelligent people. Intelligent staff and intelligent players.
For a moment, swap Orient and Brentford’s places round in the league table. Then swap their players round. Then swap their management teams. Now who do you KNOW is going up? You’d probably allow yourselves to realise that would be Orient. But, hang on, we haven’t swapped all those factors. We have what we have and they have what they have. We ARE going up.
Maybe people are too scared to be labelled arrogant. People will read this and think I’m being arrogant or even that telling the world we ARE going up will lead to some curse. I’m just confident though and realise people will be able to abuse me come May if I get this wrong.
Hmm, so maybe they’re right and I should reign this in. Maybe I should let the nagging It’s Brentford Innit (copyright Nocoat@GPG) doubts return. Maybe I should take the “let’s take it 1game/3 points at a time” mantra and forget about the ultimate goal. Maybe I should forget about how brilliant this squad and club is at the moment. Maybe I should spend hours looking at other teams’ fixtures when what they do doesn’t actually matter. Maybe I should waste time on those pathetic ‘predictive league tables’ using some simple non-football maths formula. Maybe I should just forget about where we’ll be come May. Ok I will.
I know it will be in the Top Two though.
