Young Brentford full-back (and Bees fan) Tom Field has been loaned out to Bradford City until January in a bid to help his development after a string of impressive first team appearance in the Championship last season.

Field, who is a good friend to us at Beesotted, spoke at length to the fanzine back in January at the Sky film premier, and was very philosophical and open about his fledgling pro career – after a series of big landmarks in the past couple of seasons I’m sure it will feel strange to be away from an environment he’s been part of since joining the academy aged 15, but all Bees fans look forward to seeing him back in a red and white striped shirt soon.

Field made his first competitive appearance for Brentford a year ago in the EFL Cup extra time defeat at Exeter City before making his first League coming on as sub during our 2–1 Griffin Park win over Burton Albion in December. He then celebrated a new long-term contract by scoring a brace in the 5-1 FA Cup win over Eastleigh.

Unfortunately for Tom, Ricoh Henry was always destined to be first choice left back after his arrival from Walsall, and after a shaky performance pre season at MK Dons, it was felt that first team football at progressive Bradford would be the right move.

Good luck at The Bantams Tom, make the most of it and get back to The Bees.

Surely Fulham 2015/16 was Tom’s first competitive game? Anyway, good luck to him, he needs gametime at his age and it’s a good sign that clubs like Bradford want to loan our players now.
