As we move into the final hours of the transfer window, we would not be lying if we said that things have gone a bit bonkers down at Griffin Park
Brentford having already signed eight players this window looks like they haven’t finished their business. And with rumours of players possibly still leaving, this looks like it could go all the way to the wire
Beesotted will be recording a deadline day podcast today (Thursday) due to go live some time as close as humanly possible to 5pm (hopefully by 6pm)
You can catch the podcast at http://PrideofWest.London
In the mean time, Billy Grant (@BillyTheBee99) tries to summarise where Brentford currently are transfer-wise on a totally bonkers transfer deadline Thursday
Incoming
Saman Ghoddos
Forward
Amiens SC
Ghoddos is an Iranian international who plays as an attacking midfielder – anywhere up front basically including striker
There are a number of stories flying around here. Various sources including Sky Sports have indicated that the 25 year old Swedish forward has agreed terms with Brentford and is due a medical today.
Other sources we have personally spoken to from Amiens have said that the club have not agreed a fee and are they are hoping he will stay at the club. They have told us that Brentford have bid €10m for the player.
Then there are other sources that say that Brentford and Ghoddos are struggling to agree personal terms .
Maybe Dean Smith will come in with a cheeky late bid for him knowing we’re interested
We will have to watch this space

Halil İbrahim Dervişoğlu
Forward
Sparta Rotterdam
Various sources out of Holland and Turkey have suggested that Brentford are looking to make a swoop for the young Dutch forward Halil Dervişoğlu (19 yrs). Even his father gave a report about the meeting with Brentford.
The Turkish U19 striker scored 10 goals in 26 appearances for Sparta Rotterdam who were promoted from the Eerste Divisie (Dutch 2nd Division) via the playoffs last season.
Sky Sports are indicating it is one or the other. Ghoddos or Dervişoğlu.
Not both
Incoming
Lyle Taylor
Forward
Charlton Athletic
Brentford apparently had a £3m offer rejected from Charlton for their 29 year old striker who scored 25 goals in Division 1 last season and scored on his Championship debut on Saturday – up at Blackburn.
Some people see him as not fitting the ‘Brentford model’ because of his age. However, some experts believe his performance defies his age – playing like a player 5 years younger – and has plenty of juice in the engine still.
This transfer seems to have gone quiet.
Lets see if it picks up later in the day again
Incoming
Alban Ajeti
Forward
FC Basel
Brentford bid £7m plus for Ajeti in a speculative punt – very much like Bryan Mbuemo was a punt that came in for them. But they were in competition with West Ham.
Ajeti has just signed with West Ham for £8m.
Incoming
Max Lowe
Defender (Left Back)
Derby County
Brentford have made a bid – from what we can gather – for Max Lowe. The feeling is Derby County will not want to sell Lowe to a rival team. Celtic have also been linked with Lowe.
Incoming
Dominic Thompson
Defender (Left Back)
Arsenal
According to my chum Mr DT from Arsenal Fan TV, there is a chain reading – Tierney from Celtic to Arsenal. Henry from Brentford to Celtic. Thompson (21 yrs) from Arsenal to Brentford.
He was reportedly due for a medical yesterday (Wednesday)
Any truth in this we will find out soon
*** UPDATE. As we went to press with this article, Brentford confirmed the signing of Thompson. How this will affect Rico Henry, we will see. The official line is “Thompson will provide competition for Henry in the Left Back position”.
Outgoing
Saïd Benrahma
Midfielder (Winger)
Interested – Aston Villa
Aston Villa have reportedly bid around £15m for Saïd Benrahma. But their offer is £10m or so short of the £25m Brentford want for the young winger.
The next few hours is set to be a tussle between the two teams – with Brentford in a strong position having already signed Benrahma’s replacement. But at the same time, under no pressure to sell this window.
This will be an interesting afternoon
Outgoing
Rico Henry
Defender (Left Back)
Celtic
There was a rumour that Rico Henry was off to Celtic.
But that rumour was quashed by Celtic manager Neil Lennon in a recent press conference.
Will there be any movement on this – bearing in mind Brentford’s interest in pulling in a left back?
We shall see
Outgoing
Ollie Watkins
Forward
Crystal Palace
Rumours were rife about Ollie going off to Palace. But then he started against Birmingham City and it all died down.
However, with this window being completely mad. And Brentford being known to stock players up in anticipation of a move – either now or in January – maybe there is some more leverage in Ollie Watkins’ potential move to The Premier League.
Outgoing
Sergi Canos
Attacking midfielder (winger)
FC Kransodar
There was a story on Sky Sports News that Brentford had turned down a bid of £6.5m from FC Krasnodar.
If that type of money is being banded about for our young Spanish winger, it would not be unexpected if a surprise bid popped up for him either before 5pm. Or after the window shuts – as the European window remains open for longer.
In Italy, the Serie A transfer window remains open until Sunday August 18th, while the windows for LaLiga, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga close on Saturday August 31st.
In Scotland, the transfer window remains open until September 1st. While the transfer window in the Netherlands shuts the September 2nd.
The final European window to close is in Russia, where the window will remain open until September 6th – plenty of time for FC Krasnodar to put another cheeky bid in.
Check out the Deadline Day podcast live on Thursday from around 6pm on http://PrideofWest.London

Some amazing business over the last few days, hopefully they can gel together well and we keep that same style and flare ! But what is worrying is we let Maupay leave with no replacement !! I understand that we tried to get a striker in, but like we did with Sawyers we should have had a replacement ready to go ? Strange !! Hopefully it doesn’t cost us more then a top 6 position, over 20 goals is going to be hard to make up !! You could see we missed a proper number 9 on Saturday, time will tell, but i will always keep the faith. Come on you Beeeeeeeeeeeesssssssss
