Nice one Jim.
Thank you so much, some I had forgotten
Enjoyed the read
eating monkey nuts on the Royal Oak, leaving the shells on the floor then jumping on them with my cousin when we scored to increase the noise! yes seriously!
First game 6-1 QPR memory from that game was being told off for kicking the person in front, well there isn’t much room!
taking my 5 month old daughter to watch Leyton Orient get beaten 4-3 first game of the season. I was on baby duty that day and figured I could hold her. she cried at the noise but my friends girlfriend took her outside, result!
Alex Dawson sliding through the mud to head the winner against Gillingham in the cup, I think.
Stan Bowles. probably the most skilful player ever until the last few years?
Changing ends at half-time
playing on the turf in an end of season 6 aside competition, our team actually played in Brentford colours, the nearest I ever got to living the dream.
so many more….
First game, early 1970s (can’t remember against who) but do remember walking up steps to Braemar Road seating and looking out over what seemed like a huge expanse of bright green turf and being awestruck!!!
Smell of Deep Heat at evening games.
My Mum wearing a Purple coat for game v Doncaster in 1973 – Doncaster played in Purple that day!!

Standing on the dug outs to celebrate goals (and abusing BrumScum directors!!!)
“Peeeeeeanuts!!!!!” In The Oak.
Hugging my son after Bees goals.
Mboro 1-2 (noise when Gray equalised!!!) Most I’ve celebrated a goal since Bliss’ 2nd at Balckburn.
Walking up to GP on a night match – floodlights/cigarette smoke hanging in the air.
Terrace ‘rumbles’ across The Oak v Portsmouth.
Notts County 2-2 (Biggar).
Walking past Mafeking Avenue – “Gets you there!!!” (Thumps chest!!).
Extra strong chewing gum.

My first game ever at Griffin Park v QPR 1952 won 3-0 attendance 35000.Next game Good Friday same year v Sheffield Wednesday lost 3-2 attendance 35800 after that was hooked.
My first game was in February 1952 at GP midweek afternoon when we played Luton in a FA Cup replay aged 10. Just as well my parents did not know there would be over 30,000 crammed into the ground. Followed by Good Friday against Shefield Wednesday!
Great post Jim & fellow comment makers. Your mention of finding yourself amongst 80 Millwall supporters. I was introduced to G.P. by my late father as a 16 year old when the family returned to England from 12 years in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). When work prevented my father going to matches I’d go on my own. For night games completing a paper round generally meant getting there about 10 minutes after the kick-off. This was the case for a game against Exeter City. Entering behind the goal at the Royal Oak end , not being the tallest I weaved my way up the stand between red and white scarfed supporters with my focus mainly on the pitch. Brentford were playing well when those near me started cheering for Exeter in a funny accent. I thought that they were taking the piss so yelled out ‘come on Brentford’ to be instantly facing an umbrella of 20/30 faces glaring up at me. Glancing down I noticed several were wearing red & white rosettes with Exeter City printed in the middle. Oh I thought Blue & White must be their away strip.
At that point a scuffle broke out in the bottom right hand corner near the players entrance and my “umbrella” shot down to there which was my cue to exit stage left. So my thanks to anyone involved in that scuffle
