Well written – enjoyable read, thank you.
Went to the new Mets stadium in Queens when it opened a few years back, you can almost touch the planes coming into La Guardia. Can’t imagine trying to fit a football pitch into a baseball diamond.
Its a good read and Ive definitely shared similar experiences. I’m an englishman that’s a season ticket holder at NY Red Bulls and would just say that its not the fairest statement to brand the entire league that way based on your experiences at Cosmos and NYC. Most teams aren’t plying off old retiree’s. NYC are a very new team, and have a very new, naive fan base, they’re not indicative to the rest of the league at all. You should have come to Red Bull Arena, the only soccer specific ground in the NY area with fans that have been following the team since its inception in 1996, so they’re much more knowledgable.
One thing that does bug me is the chanting and complete lack of wit you mentioned, im told that they borrow this style of constant singing from the south americans though so they cant be completely to blame for that.
