Pritchard to stay at Griffin Park
On loan Tottenham midfielder Alex Pritchard is set to extend his loan spell at Brentford to the end of the season.
The young attacking midfielder has been one of the side’s standout players so far, and Mauricio Pochettino is keen for him to keep learning his trade in the championship.
Interest in Pritchard was reportedly high, with several clubs circling the England Under 21 player. However, he is set to extend his loan for another 6 months.
Middlesbrough game on Sky.
On January 31st, Brentford travel to Middlesbrough for a potential top of the table clash. Sky TV yesterday announced that this game will be shown on Sky Sports.
This involves moving the game to a 12:15 kick-off to abide by broadcast rules and regulations.
Middlesbrough won 3-0 last time the two sides met. Since then both sides have picked up form somewhat.
Brentford target not for sale
Brentford loan target Tommie Hoban has been told he will not be sold in January.
Despite loan interest from Brentford, it has been decided by the Watford management that Hoban will not be let go in January.
The Hornets’ hierarchy were apparently unhappy with their former employee Warburton for commenting on Hoban publicly in which ironically … he actually didn’t actually make an speculation on the defender.
Warburton said “I know Tommie is a very talented lad and is another classy player with a great future in the game, but he is also Watford’s player, and I don’t make a habit of speculating on other club’s players.”
Warburton presumably had plans to use the young central defender as back-up to the rotating back two of Tarkowski, Dean, and Craig.
Ipswich sell-out?
Brentford’s Boxing Day home match against Ipswich is on the verge of selling-out.
Ealing Road terrace and The Paddock sold out a few days ago.
Fans are advised to buy tickets as soon as possible as none will be available on the door.
The match will feature the return of Bees legend Jay Tabb, as well as showcasing two of the league’s high-fliers.
Cardiff host Brentford
Brentford travel to the Cardiff City stadium this Saturday eager to close the gap on the promotion places.
The Bees can go top with a win on Saturday (and various results going our way .. and scoring lots and lots of goals) whilst Cardiff have faced a tough start to the campaign – finding themselves lingering in 11th place going into the game.
Brentford will be boosted by news of Alex Pritchard’s loan deal extension, whilst Cardiff have no fresh injury concerns.
Cardiff could feature ex-Brentford loanee Kadeem Harris. Harris’ appearance for the Bees turned things around for the club when he came on against Colchester last season. It co-insided with Brentford going on an incredible 4 match unbeaten run with Harris winning every game he played in for Brentford except the 0-0 draw up at Wolves.
Cardiff also could feature ex-Bees Tom Adeyemi and Simon Moore – both big favourites down at Griffin Park.
You can listen to the pre-match Cardiff City podcast right where we talk to Ben James from Voice of the Ninian about Russell Slade’s unpopularity; fan infighting on the terraces at Bournemouth; Vincent Tan … plus Pritchard, Bournemouth & Brentford’s style of football leading the way, Harlee Dean’s performance against Blackburn plus lots lots more.
Pubs recommended for Brentford fans by Ben from Voice of the Ninian include:
Typical ‘football pub’: A few just down the road from the ground – Canton Cross. The Admiral Napier are both proper Cardiff pubs which host away fans
Away-friendly traditional real ale type place: The Lansdowne. Really nice pub with different selections of ales.
Totally off the cuff pubs – a bit different: …In the city centre – The Urban Tap House, Brewdog, Bunkhouse, City Arms, Goat Major are all slightly different pubs away from the norm!
