Bob Booker was special guest at the first ever matchday social – held on the morning of the Millwall match at The Globe, Brentford – which you can listen back to by clicking the podcast player above.

Bob – straight off the back of his book ‘Ooh Ah’ (available at Amazon, the Brentford club shop and good book stores) – came to Brentford to give his unfiltered version of tales from his time at Griffin Park in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

And a hilarious afternoon it was too.

From him recalling the day when his mum met Terry Hurlock’s dad who revealed to her his not so reputable occupation. To telling the tale of the team’s team bonding session in Cyprus in preparation (or lack of preparation) for the Leyland Daf Final against Wigan.

There was even a dispute raised as to the originality of the Booker song ‘Ooh Ah’ which prompted the name of the book – with Bees fans pointing out that the Funeral Song and the Sand Dance were actually the original Booker terrace chants.

Proper tales. Proper jokes.

Thanks of The Globe for hosting the event and Fullers’ for their complimentary pints of London Pride Unfiltered for the fans (and Bob of course) in the house. And of course, thanks to Bob for entertaining us.

The Bee Job Question

The Great Brentford Song Scam

The Great Brentford Song Scam

For years Brentford fans have constantly been evolving the songs they employ to support their team. Scientists and historians, such as myself, rarely take an interest in such forms of tribal worship. But, after being approached by Beesotted to take a closer look at...
